In celebration of 20 years of Jumeirah’s Dubai Turtle Rehabilitation Project (DTRP), Jumeirah Al Naseem is introducing a new turtle-inspired experience.
The new nature-inspired experience includes a guided tour of the turtle rehabilitation facilities, beginning with a behind-the-scenes tour of the Aquarium at Jumeirah Burj Al Arab, where rescued turtles start the journey to recovery.
The rescue sanctuary contains five outdoor lagoons, where the resident turtles rebuild their strength before being released back into the wild. As part of the experience, guests will also be allowed to help feed the turtles.
In addition, the hotel is also introducing a brand-new ocean-themed four-hands afternoon tea concept at Al Mandhar Lounge. The tea will be the first in an exciting new culinary series.
Executive Pastry Chef Julien Jacob has teamed up with his mentor, renowned Pâtissier and Chocolatier Philippe Rigollot, to craft a special menu featuring signature savouries and sweets and nostalgic creations inspired by childhood candies. With an emphasis on sustainably sourced, local ingredients and reduced sugar, this distinct experience is presented on an ocean-inspired stand adorned with repurposed coral and marble for a harmonious touch.
Guests will enjoy daily breakfast and have unlimited admission to Wild Wadi Waterpark™ plus access to complimentary non-motorised water sports on Jumeirah’s pristine beach and wellness facilities at Talise Spa, Talise Fitness, and J Club, as well as KiDS at Jumeirah Al Naseem for junior guests. As a special feature, curious guests will be provided with a map link to track the journeys of the turtles released as part of the project’s conservation efforts.
“As we celebrate 20 years of DTRP, and in view of the threats our oceans face, it is more important than ever to raise awareness of the critical conservation work being done to protect sea turtles,” commented Barbara Lang-Lenton, Director of Aquarium at Jumeirah Burj Al Arab.
“Initiatives like the turtle-inspired stay experience at Jumeirah Al Naseem not only offers guests a distinct and memorable experience, it provides a deeper awareness and vital support to the DTRP’s efforts in rehabilitating and releasing these endangered species back into the wild.”
Dedicated to the conservation of these precious marine creatures, DTRP is run in collaboration with Dubai’s Wildlife Protection Office. Support is provided by Dubai’s Royal Family veterinary facilities, and laboratory work is provided by the Central Veterinary Research Laboratory (CVRL).
As the first project of its kind in the region, the DTRP has thus far helped in releasing more than 2,150 rehabilitated turtles back into their natural habitats since 2004.
