In collaboration with BlackCat Superyachts and Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design, McConaghy has unveiled the BlackCat 30. This 30m design is the third model in the groundbreaking BlackCat series of high-performance superyacht catamarans.
McConaghy has been selected to join this exclusive alliance of partners due to our specialist knowledge and experience in the build of midsize carbon fibre multihulls and advanced composite construction methods.
Other industry-leading suppliers involved in the project include the North Technology Group, reinforcing the benchmark of quality already established by BlackCat Superyachts in the large luxury cruising catamaran sector.
The BlackCat range is the brainchild of champion Australian yachtsman Mitch Booth, with design by world-renowned superyacht design studio Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design.
The BlackCat 30 (30.4m/100ft) has been designed following many requests from clients for a catamaran this size.
The BlackCat 30 features a spectacular interior design by m2atelier and provides accommodation for eight guests in six cabins, along with crew quarters for four.
The yacht has a very open and spacious feel, with the main deck saloon on a single level and big enough to cater for large dinner parties and entertaining.
“We are delighted to have been identified by BlackCat Superyachts as the builder of choice for the BlackCat 30, and we look forward to adding our expertise to this elite collaboration. The progressive design by the MMYD studio sees a multihull of this size completely reimagined, and we’re extremely excited to commence construction.” James Kinloch, Sales & Marketing Director at McConaghy.
“The cruising catamaran market is the largest growth sector in midsize yachts today. We believe this trend will continue and eventually will become common throughout the superyacht sailing scene. The large volume and stable platform a BlackCat multihull provides is the logical solution for comfortable cruising.” Mitch Booth, Founder BlackCat Superyachts.
The many advantages of fast and comfortable sailing on a multihull, capable of cruising at 20 knots and reaching maximum speeds of 32 knots, with a low heel angle and a stable platform, make the BlackCat 30 an appealing alternative to a 40m monohull.
To accommodate a client’s wishes, each design can be tailor-made right down to the smallest detail.
The BlackCat range of superyachts are at the cutting edge of cruising performance, and due to the lightweight carbon fibre construction, the yachts are able to sail or motor very efficiently, minimising emissions and, in some cases, eliminating them completely.
