Held on the 21st of April every year, National Tea Day is the official day in the UK where we can outwardly celebrate our world-renowned passion for tea.
This year is a mini-milestone, it’s the 5th anniversary of National Tea Day and it will be made even more special by the SOLIDARI-TEA campaign which is encouraging the whole nation to join together to celebrate our shared passion for tea.
The SOLIDARI-TEA campaign has a simple and straightforward goal: bring people together online during this time of isolation whilst letting all the people taking part know they are not alone.
Physical distancing, not social distancing
Human beings are social creatures. In times of stress and illness, we naturally reach out to seek and to give support amongst family, friends and community. The coronavirus pandemic has unfortunately necessitated self-isolation and physical distancing. And we know that this can lead to loneliness, anxiety and depression.
National Tea Day on 21st April is a great way to stay connected, and it has been made very simple thanks to the SOLIDARI-TEA campaign.
During the week leading up to National Tea Day on 21st April, everyone is invited to join the National Tea Day Virtual Tea Party on Facebook and related online groups.
Par-tea goers are encouraged to share posts of their favourite teas, recipes, wellbeing tips, brewing techniques, anything and everything tea-related!
Over the years, many celebrities have posted pictures of them having a cuppa, and this year it would be amazing if everyone in the country took part.
The campaigns official charity partner is Mind. Given the current climate, it’s never been more important to talk about the mental impact of isolation and loneliness.
We believe in the power of tea to bring people together in times of need, helping combat feelings of loneliness, anxiety and depression.
#NationalTeaDay will be one of the top trending hashtags in the UK on April 21st. It’s campaigns such as SOLIDARI-TEA that will help the nation to navigate this current period and break down barriers – please show your support!
