Kent, the South-East county known as the garden of England gets a sparkling new addition in the form of the One Warwick Park hotel
Enclosing a quaint cobbled street in Tunbridge Wells, occupying a former Subbuteo factory, Victorian brew house and 19th school; every detail of the new One Warwick Park hotel from their signature scent upwards screams sophistication.
Following three years of careful renovation and re-imagination, the elegant 39-room hotel (opened on 1st July 2016) has the intimacy of a Townhouse; feeling more like a private home than a hotel.
Staff wear tailored Nicole Manier uniforms and seem to have a sixth sense for service as a polished delivery is seamlessly combined with a homely welcome. In-room refreshments are personalised and complimentary and luxury touches are thoughtfully sourced for guests.
Some rooms at One Warwick Park hotel feature historic period features such as delicate molding, ornate fireplaces and sumptuous, hand-finished furnishings, whilst The Old School House – the hotel’s 180 capacity function room – retains its 19th-century timber vaults and 15ft arched windows lending it an imposing elegance, perfect for a wedding or special occasion.
The rooms (some with private terrace or duplex option and listed staircase) complete with luxury wellbeing products from cult beauty brand Temple Spa, provide a tranquil and lavish retreat, whilst The Townhouse offers five stylish contemporary bedrooms with its own secure front door – perfect for small groups who want their own space.
Every season One Warwick Park hotel blinks and remakes as a new art exhibition is revealed within it’s 40sm underground art gallery. First up is British contemporary artist Melanie Berman with ‘Land Marks’; a collection of brightly coloured abstract paintings inspired by the natural environment.
The Gallery is also home to select pieces from Harry G. Collins & Sons; the Queen’s personal jeweller and Tunbridge Wells resident. Items include rare art deco rings, through to skeleton Patek Philippe and works from Harry G.Collins’ statement JC collection.
The restaurant and bar – L’AMORE – with its visually impressive double-height atrium and private rooms have quickly become the town’s most fashionable rendezvous. Serving Mediterranean small plates using authentic ingredients and with an excellent cocktail menu (must try The One, featuring Hendricks gin, Disaronno, Cointreau, raspberries, mint and lime) it provides the ideal foil for the hotel’s harbourage.
