Raw, rare Samar honey, uniquely defined by the ancient, pristine, and arid landscape of Ras Al Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates, is now available for the first time in the UK.
Sourced from the remote terracotta mountain ranges of Ras Al Khaimah (RAK), locals have held the Samar honey sacred for millennia. It is an incredibly rare and sought-after food as the beekeepers only extract a small amount of honey from each hive to ensure the bees have enough reserves to thrive until the next nectar flow.
The RAK Samar Honey is only harvested once a year, in early June, and it is an exacting art performed by trained Emirati beekeepers before the onset of the extreme UAE summer temperatures.
The timing of the honey harvest has to be perfect to ensure that the honey is mature.
The honeycomb frames are removed from the honey boxes, and the bees are gently brushed back into the hive. The cropped frames are then moved to indoor production facilities, where the honey is graded by our honey experts and manually extracted. Following this, it is minimally filtered and stored in stainless steel tanks ready for bottling.
With its dark amber hue and aromatic subtle sweetness, RAK Samar is a one-of-a-kind honey which is extracted from the Samar tree. The tree is only found in the most wildly remote regions and is known for its beautiful white flowers, which bloom just a couple of weeks each year, helping to make RAK Samar one of the world’s most coveted and precious wildly crafted honeys.
The RAK Samar honey has an indulgent flavour profile, with thick amber nectar bursting with tasting notes of carob, ripe figs, and dark spices. This has been crafted by the region’s extreme landscape, making it taste unlike any other honey.
RAK Samar has a quality mark, known as a Unique Samar Potency (USP), which assures customers of its authenticity and pureness, as it is produced from one flower, and compared to other honeys, contains an abundance of beneficial vitamins and minerals:
- Succinic acid
- Malic acid
- Potassium
- Magnesium
- Polyphenols
From the ancient, arid landscapes to its indulgent flavour profile reaping with vitamins, this rare and special honey is now available in the UK with an RRP of £74.99. Order can be placed on RAK’s website: www.rakhoney.co.uk and via Amazon.
