‘Re’, a new concept in cabin retreats designed to foster reconnection with nature and cherish time with friends and family, is reinventing the city-to-country mini getaway. The company has today launched its first off-grid luxury cabin in St Albans, which is just 45 minutes from central London by train.
Re is the brainchild of interior designers Monica Innes and Luke Jones, founders of Ellipse Design Studio, which specialises in commercial and residential sustainable interior design. Launching today with a commitment to ensure guests unwind, recharge, and relax in its inaugural cabin in St Albans.
A deck surrounds the cabin, allowing you to relax in nature, creating the perfect harmony between the inside and the great outdoors, where you spark your creativity and become more mindful. The land around the cabin has been rewilded to enhance biodiversity and to allow guests to leave it better than when they found it.
The cabins are designed to sleep two and contain a log-burning stove, pizza oven, mindfulness journal, yoga mat, tea and coffee-making facilities and toiletries by the natural plant-powered brand Kankan London.
Re’s first cabin is made from the highest-grade sustainable materials, including British-made Foresso worktops, cork flooring and sustainably and locally sourced timber.
To solidify the company’s sustainability credentials, Re has partnered with U-Build, a not-for-profit sustainable modular build system. One of the significant advantages of this is it allows for the structure to be dismantled without creating any waste and be re-used and reconfigured without compromise. Select Solar was the chosen solar panel system selected to supply power to the cabin.
Monica and Luke commented, “In a world that seems to move faster each day, we wanted to create a space where people can slow down, breathe, and reconnect with what truly matters. Our first cabin in St Albans is a testament to our commitment to providing a haven that nurtures the soul and fosters meaningful connections. This cabin marks the start of a series of Re-experiences across the UK”.
Carefully selected for its proximity to nature and fantastic local pubs, restaurants, bakeries, walking trails and off-the-beaten-track natural sights, the first Re cabin in St Albans raises the bar for luxury retreats.
The “Re experience” is about taking a break from busy city life, bringing people closer to nature, and giving them the things they need – space, time, comfort, and inspiration – to refresh, reconnect and re-energise.
Prices start from £380.00 for a two-night stay. The first Re cabin is available to book from 28 October 2023 via www.recabins.com.
