Interior designer François Champsaur creates seven luxurious suites during the extensive refurbishment of the Hotel Royal Evian

At Evian-les-Bains on the French shore of Lake Geneva and only 45 km from the airport, the Royal Hotel enjoys an exceptional situation. Framed by mountains and nestled in the heart of a lush garden, palace overlooking Lake Geneva, providing, at every moment, an unforgettable view.

The refurbishment, or rather the reinterpretation of the Hôtel Royal was entrusted to interior designer François Champsaur and head architect of historic monuments François Chatillon, to restore this hundred-year-old building to its radiant splendour.

The “crème de la crème” of this transformation is to be found on the 6th floor with the creation of seven luxurious suites from where the views of Lake Geneva and the Alps reach new heights of elegance.

The new suites offer the perfect blend of historic heritage and contemporary design, a unique expression of the Hôtel Royal’s refinement. The delicate patina on period furniture, specially designed for the hotel, has been restored. A selection of period woods – mahogany, oak, rosewood and satinwood – keeps the tradition alive and contributes to the joy of the loyal guests at this legendary hotel. As for the Carrara marble used in the bathrooms, it has been carefully chosen with white and grey veinage before being polished by hand for a mat finish.

François Champsaur, interior designer and the man behind this transformation, likes to remind us that “it reveals in equal measure its connection with the mineral content of water and the water spring as well as its place in the sophisticated world of the Palace hotel”.

7 new suites pay a renewed tribute to King Edward VII in honour of whom the hotel was built in 1907.
