Smeg, the well-known kitchen appliance brand, has now entered the hotly contested cookware arena. The company has created beautiful, well-designed pots and pans that every Chef will love to use.

One of my well-guarded secrets is I love to cook. My favourite recipes are Italian dishes which is appropriate as I have been looking at the new Cookware pieces from Smeg. Until recently, I had no idea that Smeg was an Italian brand as its name offers not even a hint of this. But I can see they have that certain flair after learning more about the products.

Smeg is synonymous with beautifully designed retro fridges, large and small cooking appliances and has now launched its first-ever cookware range. Within the range are two frying pans, a wok and a casserole dish, all of which are must-haves in any kitchen.

The cookware draws clues from Smeg’s 50s retro style signature look and extends its commitment to quality kitchenware.

The launch of the new cookware range could point to a new future for the Italian brand, whose ongoing passion and love for crafting great food are at the heart of the business and the founding family.

Quality and craftsmanship are at the heart of everything produced by the Italian kitchen appliance specialists, and they’ve taken this ethos into their cookware. This new range of Smeg products has been designed to suit the exacting needs of both home cooks and those who ply their trade in the food industry.

The products in the new range are curvaceous with more than a nod towards the brand’s 50s style collection. The pieces are jam-packed with quality design features and are said to have been optimised for all cooking styles and needs. All the pieces are made using cold-forged aluminium with a perfectly thickened bottom and a stainless-steel plate. In total, there are six layers in the plate which is said to guarantee uniform heat distribution.

All of the products utilise a non-stick primer coating that allows food to brown off without the hassle of sticking or using extra oil in your cooking. Another nice feature is that the range works on all hob types, including induction which is perfect for the modern kitchen.

Sturdy rivets are used on the stainless-steel handles, reminiscent of the handles on the brand’s iconic FAB fridge range. The cookware, including the pan lids, can be placed in ovens up to 250°C, which is fantastic as it allows for all forms of cooking from one product.

Smeg has also put in several small but thoughtful details across the range. The frying pan has a long stainless-steel handle to provide extra control during cooking. A vent hole has also been added to the flat lid of the casserole dish to help avoid over-boiling or rattling. Once the cooking has been done, the cookware can be popped into a dishwasher. To help with this, Smeg has created holes in all handles to facilitate water drainage.

Three slick colourways are available for the high-quality cookware range. These comprise a matt red, classic matt black and a minimalist and modern matt cream. All of the products come with stainless steel accents and will slot seamlessly into any kitchen.

I haven’t had the opportunity of using any of the cookware items yet, but I can imagine cooking with them. They look great, and with the attention to detail put in, they will all be functional, aiding the Chef. They would be perfect for me to do an Italian job, Ciao Bella.
