Chef de Cuisine Christian Schagerl and Managing Director Paul Ivic’s hard work and vegetarian-based culinary creativity pays dividends as the TIAN München is awarded a Michelin Star.

True to the culinary motto “from the root to the leaf”, Christian Schagerl and his kitchen team at TIAN Munich have been cooking vegetarian and vegan dishes since 2014, consisting exclusively of organic, regional and seasonal products.

Culinary director Paul Ivic who took over the management of the Munich restaurant in January 2018 and brought Christian Schagerl on-board, is the visionary behind the culinary development of the restaurant.

His input has helped create three first-class locations in Vienna and Munich: the TIAN Restaurant and the TIAN Bistro in Vienna, as well as the TIAN Restaurant in the Bavarian state capital. All three of the restaurants follow the same, natural philosophy: only products and ingredients on a purely organic and sustainable basis are used and come directly from local fruit and vegetable farmers.

The TIAN Restaurant Vienna was founded by Christian Halper and opened in December 2011. Since then, chef and managing director Paul Ivic has set new standards in vegetarian cuisine – with international recognition.

No vegetarian establishment in Austria has achieved the success of the TIAN restaurant. The Michelin star, 17 points and three Gault & Millau toques make TIAN Vienna one of the top three vegetarian restaurants in Europe – and one of the top five in the world.
