Master of Malt has produced a list of drinks they think are perfect for Valentine’s Day. Sam Simmons, Head of Whisky, has his suggestions for luscious cocktails for lovers and is hosting videos on creating them across the company’s social media. There are also excellent single alcohols, including Loch Lomond Peated Single Grain Whisky.
Valentine’s day can often be a tough day, as loved up couples sometimes get their choice of presents wrong. Singles hate it because it makes them reflect on their lack of a relationship, and many established couples can’t be bothered with it anymore.
Master of Malt believes you can’t go wrong with gifting alcohol and getting involved as a couple in making cocktails using some brands they sell.
‘Red Rum’ made with Depth Charge Spiced Rum.
Depth Charge Spiced Rum
Depth Charge Spiced Rum packs a big, robust flavour profile, made with a fantastic base of Caribbean rum. Containing an array of tasty spices and generous helpings of lime and mandarin at its heart, it is a delight. Superb neat or over ice with a good wedge of lime, and pairs brilliantly with all those classic rum mixers you know and love—ideal for cocktails requiring a rum base. Priced at £23.75.
‘Every Rose Has Its Thorn’ showcasing Mijenta Tequila Blanco.
Mijenta Tequila Blanco
Mijenta Tequila comes to us from the highlands of Jalisco, where it’s made with sustainability in mind. Maestra Tequilera Ana Maria Romero produce the Tequila using 100% blue weber agave. The spirit is bottled without filtration and packs a bright, vibrant flavour profile showcasing the authentic flavours of the agave. Priced at £54.95.
The ‘Grapefruit and Rose-Mary Martini’ is made with Bathtub Gin’s brand new Grapefruit & Rosemary.
Bathtub Gin Grapefruit
Bathtub Grapefruit Gin is at the centre of this cocktail, and Luxurious has tasted the delicious standard gin before. The cocktail I have chosen here features the same host of botanicals as the multi-award-winning original, blended and infused with natural grapefruit and rosemary. A glorious pairing, bringing a bunch more vibrantly zesty elements and softly floral notes to the bold gin at its heart, and it makes for a G&T that stands out. Priced at £33.95.
Master of Malt specialises in Whiskies and have some lovely single malts for the special day.
Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Select, specially selected from the top floors of the Jack Daniel’s barrelhouses. Each bottle comes with a customised Master of Malt medallion, with the barrel number, rick number, and bottling date on the bottleneck. Accompanied by a decanter kit, including a pair of Jack Daniel’s tumblers, along with a glass decanter and stopper, it makes a lovely gift.
This next choice is not a malt but a grain Whisky. Loch Lomond Peated Single Grain Scotch Whisky is made exclusively from heavily peated malted barley in the malt room at the Loch Lomond Distillery. Matured in a combination of first and refill bourbon casks delivers a soft fruity character with creamy vanilla and wisps of smoke.
