Xavier Dietlin, the founder of Dietlin Artisans Métalliers depuis 1854 SA, and Maximilian Büsser, the founder and Creative Director of MB&F, were the invited guests of Laurent Haug, the founder of LIFT, an annual conference on new technologies.
Two of today’s most innovative business entrepreneurs shared their vision of the future for their industry. The discussions ranged over the daunting challenges posed by technologies and the advent of new players coming out of the emerging world. The session is now available for viewing on the LIFT12 Website:
Xavier Dietlin designs and makes innovative displays and showcases incorporating state-of-the-art technologies. In 2006, he came to prominence for the Raptor showcase for Hublot, a display-case without security glass fitted with an infrared detection system that can send a command for the product on display to disappear within a tenth of a second.
During the LIFT Conference, streamed live, 6 innovative showcases and displays were presented on stage to the audience. They were then ‘handed over’ to those present so they could take a closer look and, indeed, test them out. Xavier Dietlin answered visitors’ questions, explaining the rationale behind his work:
“The key lies not in knowing HOW to make a display, but WHY!”
Maximilian Büsser founded MB&F – Maximilian Büsser & Friends – in 2005, after spending 15 years managing prestigious watch brands. MB&F is not really a watch brand, but rather an artistic and micro-engineering concept laboratory based on a simple ideal : to assemble each year collectives of independent horological professionals, to design and craft radical « Horological Machines ». By respecting traditional, high-quality watchmaking without being shackled by it, MB&F creates three-dimensional kinetic sculptures… which happen to give the time.
